Also included are three scrapbooks of members of the Burwell family, with clippings about family and social events in Charlotte, 1894-1913, and a Good Roads Tour, New York to Atlanta, 1909; a military pass and an account book of Capt. Burwell, 1864; and caricatures, drawings, and mimeographed student newspapers of a grandson, also named Armistead Burwell, 1935-1936.

Armistead Burwell enlisted 12 May 1861, at age 21. He was a farmer. He was wounded Drewy's Bluff 16 May 1864 and paroled Richmond May 1865.His brother Charles S. Burwell enlisted Clarksville, 12 May 1861. He was a farmer also and was discharged with a disability 9 September 1862.
